On September 11, 2014, Director of Uruguay National Tourism Administration Benjamin Liberoff came to visit. President Wang Yuying met with Mr. Benjamin and his wife, and had in-depth talks on the cooperation of tourism, economy and trade, real estate between Tianjin and Uruguay. Secretary-General Hu Xiaopian and Director of Huancheng Investment Consulting Co., Ltd., Fan Lin attended the meeting.

President Wang welcomed Benjamin’s visit. He pointed out that Tianjin has 14 million permanent residents， which is a huge market for Uruguay. Tianjin Sister-City Council for the Promotion of Enterprises aims to promote the exchange and cooperation between Tianjin and its friendship cities. So TSCPE is willing to co-organize some promotional events with Uruguay to introduce Uruguay features to Tianjin people so that Tianjin people can become to know and understand Uruguay. The promotional events will promote the exchange between Tianjin and Uruguay and will also strengthen the friendship between Tianjin and Montevideo.

Benjamin expressed Uruguay-China relations have been developing steadily. The meat, rice and fruits etc. of Uruguay have been popular in Chinese consumers. In June of 1997, Montevideo and Tianjin signed the letters of intent for the establishment of friendship relationship. The rapid development of China’s economy and the huge population are very important for Uruguay. I hope we can use this meeting as an opportunity to establish stable contacts and strengthen the cooperation of Tianjin and Uruguay on tourism, economy and trade, golf and real estate.
