Incheon Gwang-yeoksi

    On December, 7, 1993,Tianjin and Incheon became sister cities.

Incheon is a metropolitan city and a major seaport on the west coast of South Korea, near Seoul. The city boundaries include an area of 964.53 km², with a population of 2,628,000(2005). 

Incheon is now South Korea's third largest metropolis, and is also under the control of one of the two free economic zone authorities in Korea, aimed at attracting foreign investment; the city aims to turn itself into a financial and corporate hub along with the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority.The Incheon Free Economic Zone consists of the three regions of Songdo, Cheongna, and the island of Yeongjong, and has a total area of 51,739 acres. The goal of IFEZ is to transform these three areas into hubs for logistics, international business, leisure, and tourism for the Northeast Asian region. 

As an important industrial city of South Korea, the industrial structure of Incheon is made from 1.6% of primary industry, 43.5% of secondary industry and 54.9% of tertiary industry. The sphere of production includes steel, auto, machine, petrochemistry, electronic appliance and various production departments. The mainly is auto, steel and electronic appliance, the machinery industry is also very developed. Among the 7,410 enterprises, there are 1,207 electronic appliance enterprises, 2,968 metallic machine enterprises and 835 petrochemistry enterprises. The annual throughput of Incheon port is 0.146 billion tons, ranked to the second in South Korea. Incheon was playing a role as a core during the economic developing era in 1960s. Nowadays, Incheon centers 8 industrial parks, and the economically active population is 1.175 millions. The scale of economy is just second to Seoul and Pusan. The annual average growth rate of total production of this area is 12%, and rank to the first in South Korea.

Incheon is a major domestic and international transportation hub for Korea. Incheon International Airport, a regional air hub, is South Korea's primary international airport. Incheon's sea port is the second largest port in Korea after Busan's sea port. The International Passenger Terminal located at the port offers ferries to four cities in China: Dalian, Qingdao, Tianjin, and Weihai.Incheon Bus Terminal, located at its eponymous subway stop, offers express bus transportation to all parts of Korea. The Incheon Subway has a single subway line serving the city. It connects to the Seoul Metropolitan Subway system at Bupyeong station.
